Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The newest action-packed game that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing violence and insanity with equal excitement, all while telling engaging, politically driven stories. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two visionaries whose creations have exemplified all of those elements.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game property, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' structure by featuring a new backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their steady belief and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from year to year, while always delving into the core of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and bring our common bold, ambitious approach to the television.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
