The relatives of young people lost after a devastating fire at a venue in a Switzerland's alpine town are facing an excruciating period of uncertainty for official news and pleading for any details about their family members publicly.

The blaze devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of January 1st. Circulated images reveal the roof structure catching alight as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have warned that it could take considerable time to formally name the those who perished of the tragedy, which claimed the lives of four dozen individuals and wounded another scores more. Authorities stated on the latest update that the majority of the those hurt have been identified, with efforts continuing to identify the remaining few.

In the interim, families and friends have been posting on social media to request information about their missing relatives who were present at the venue that night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing

The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his parent.

The resident of a town near the city, told a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in Bern, but could not find him.

"I'm living a nightmare, a horror. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. It's horrific," she told the paper.

She continued that some of his peers had been discovered with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "There are no words; they went through hell."

The Italy's foreign ministry has confirmed that a number of of its citizens have not been located.

One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old promising athlete, who hailed from Genoa but now residing in Dubai.

The national sporting body has said that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the tragedy, honoring a "talented young man who carried with him passion and true sportsmanship."

His father, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An official spokesperson has indicated that a official announcement of his death is awaited.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His mother explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with a group and ended up at the bar.

"Someone with him said they ran away after the fire erupted and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.
