It has been confirmed that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Significant Reunion for Fans
The duo are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their cameos will take the form of a brief glimpse ahead, given that the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth film in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.

The film's story are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

- Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
