This Swine Life: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a long and happy life without fear.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, provided by a first responder, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six-seven” – originating from a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The trend became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Each year, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
