Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt prepared to express about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can finally express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced spending more time together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the film, remarking that he could not remember "one day without laughter".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a different piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive placed a security hold on the investigation to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a public database noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
After the deaths, public individuals expressed different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive statements that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the detractors recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan described the remarks as "shocking" and implied they revealed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an aide could have intervened when the choice to weigh in on the passing was made.
